[promise, practice, protocol—performing future presences] ist eine inszenierte Gruppenausstellung in drei Episoden: Während [promise] (Opening I) am 14. Mai 2009 wird der Zuschauer durch ein noch unbehaustes Laboratorium geführt. Es zeigt, was ist und was auch sein könnte: wie sich im Laufe der kommenden Ausstellungsdauer Prozesse in Gang setzen, Positionen bezogen, Diskussionen geführt und Räume besetzt werden könnten. Die Eröffnung flüstert einen mehrstimmigen Monolog, in dem sich das Versprechen eines noch nicht ausformulierten Zukünftigen artikuliert. [practice] (52-Stunden-Laboratorium) ist ein offener Arbeitsraum, eine Ausstellung der Gespräche oder die erste Probe zu einem Stück, das es so niemals geben wird. Während dieser zweiten Episode vom Freitag, 22. Mai ab 18 Uhr bis zum Sonntag, 24. Mai 2009 um 22 Uhr werden anhand eines umfangreichen Katalogs Fragen gestellt, die Momente gesellschaftlicher und persönlicher Instabilität reflektieren und spiegeln. Was mache ich hier eigentlich? Was hält uns zusammen? Wer spricht, wenn ich »Ich« sage? Was für ein »Wir« konstituiert sich in kollaborativen Strukturen? Wofür arbeiten wir? Oder: Brauchen wir eigentlich immer eine Antwort? Im kontinuierlichen Dialog bilden Künstler, Theoretiker und Gäste eine Gemeinschaft auf Zeit. Sie leben, denken, arbeiten, reden und feiern in den Ausstellungsräumen der Akademie. Öffentliche Workshops, Präsentationen, Führungen, Arbeitsgespräche und weitere diskursive, performative und installative Formate verschmelzen zu einer Dauerperformance und formieren den Versuch einer anderen Praxis. Gleichzeitig begleiten Beobachter, Chronisten, Essayisten, Geschichtenerzähler und Enzyklopädisten diesen Prozess. Sie präsentieren ihre Sicht der Dinge und schaffen ein kontinuierlich wachsendes Archiv, das als [protocol] (Opening II) und letzte Episode am 28. Mai 2009 eröffnet wird: Partituren und Fundstücke, Fiktionen und Protokolle, Skizzen und Fotographien zeichnen die Geschichte und Zukunft einer Welt, die es so nie gegeben hat. Eine Welt, die erst in der Vorstellungskraft ihrer Betrachter entsteht. Ein Versprechen, das aus den Kombinationsmöglichkeiten bruchstückhafter Indizien erwächst. Die erste (und letzte) Probe zu einem Stück, dessen Fortgang jeder selbst bestimmt und durch das der Besucher mittels einer Audiotour geführt wird. Treten Sie ein, lassen Sie sich treiben und bauen Sie auf Ihrem Weg durch die Ausstellung, Dauerperformances, Gespräche und Arbeitstreffen Ihr eigenes Stück. Vergessen Sie Ihre Angst und lauschen Sie den Stimmen eines mehrsprachigen und nicht enden wollenden Dialogs. So lange bis sich auch die Augen des letzten Besuchers schließen. The second episode of [promise, practice, protocol—performing future presences] is an open working space, an exhibition of dialogues, and the first rehearsal for a piece that will never come to existence. During this episode, the 52-hour-lab, questions from an extensive catalogue will be asked which reflect moments of communal and personal irritation. What am I doing here? What is holding us together? Who speaks when I say “I”? Which kind of “We” is constituted in collaborative structures? What do we work for? Or put differently: do we really or always need an answer? In a continuous dialogue, artists, theoreticians, and guests form a temporal community. They live, think, work, and celebrate together in the academy. Public workshops, presentations, tours, work-meetings and other discursive, performative, and installed formats melt into a constant performance and thus articulate the attempt of a different practice. At the same time, observers, essayists, storytellers, and encyclopedians accompany this process. They present their perspective and contribute to an ever-growing archive. Notations and found objects, fictions and protocols, sketches and photographs draw the story and future of a world that has never existed as such: a world that is only constituted in the observer’s imagination. A promise that grows from the mosaic potential of a large sum of particularities: the first and last rehearsal of a piece whose continuation is dictated by you. Come in, join and make your own path through the exhibition, the continuous performances, the talks, and the workshops. Forget your fears and listen to the voices of a multilingual and never-ending dialogue, until the eyes of the last visitors will close. Until only one is still awake: the fearless narrator.
